Phuket to Railay route overview
Crossing time: about 1 hour 15 minutes from Rassada Pier to Railay East Floating Pier.
Why take the direct boat: without the speedboat, getting from Phuket to Railay means a road journey around Phang Nga Bay to Ao Nang, then a longtail boat from Ao Nang Beach. The direct speedboat takes you to Railay in one trip.

On board: covered seating and life jackets. There is no food or drink service. Luggage is stored at the front or back of the boat. Facilities vary by boat.
Arrival: the speedboat arrives at Railay East Floating Pier, on the east side of the peninsula. Railay has no cars: you walk from the pier to your resort with your luggage.
Getting to the port and transfers
Rassada Pier, Phuket
Rassada Pier is on the east coast of Phuket, near Phuket Town. It is the main pier on Phuket for boats to Railay.
From the west coast beaches: the drive from Patong, Kata or Karon can take 45 minutes or more, especially in traffic. Plan your transfer well before departure, particularly for morning boats.
From Phuket Airport: by taxi or private transfer. Journey time: 45 minutes to 1 hour 45, depending on traffic.
From Phuket Town: a short taxi ride. Journey time: 10-20 minutes.
Arrive early, as several boats to different islands leave from the pier in the morning.
Railay East Floating Pier, Krabi
The pier is on Railay East, on the east side of the Railay peninsula. Railay is surrounded by limestone cliffs and jungle, and is not connected to the mainland by road or path.
To your resort: walk from the pier. There are no cars or taxis on Railay, so plan to carry your own luggage.
Facilities: the pier has no seating. There is an information centre with toilets at the entrance to the walking street nearby. There is no luggage storage and no lost property office.
To Ao Nang: longtail boats run between Railay and Ao Nang Beach from about 08:00 to 18:00. They usually leave when they have 8 to 10 passengers.
Railay to Phuket
Crossing time: the speedboat from Railay East Floating Pier to Rassada Pier also takes about 1 hour 15 minutes. Check the timetable or use the search box for the exact times of each sailing.
Leaving Railay:
Boats leave from Railay East Floating Pier. Walk to the pier from your resort with your luggage, as there are no vehicles on Railay.
The pier has no seating and no luggage storage. Toilets are at the information centre nearby.
In the high season, speedboats from Railay are often fully booked several days before departure, so book ahead.
Arriving in Phuket:
Boats arrive at Rassada Pier, on the east coast near Phuket Town.
The west coast beaches, such as Patong, Kata and Karon, are 45 minutes or more away by road, especially in traffic.
If you are flying out of Phuket the same day, leave plenty of time between the boat and your flight, as sailings can be delayed in rough seas.
