Railay Pier, Krabi

Ferry terminal in Railey Beach

Railay Pier is the boat pier on the east side of the Railay peninsula in Krabi province, Thailand, also known as Railay East Pier. Railay is not connected to the mainland by any road or path, so every visitor arrives and leaves by boat. The pier handles speedboats and standard ferries to Koh Phi Phi (Tonsai Pier), Phuket, Koh Lanta (Sala Dan Pier), Koh Jum, Koh Yao Yai and Koh Yao Noi, and shorter hops to Nopparat Thara and Ao Nam Mao on the Krabi coast.

The pier suits travellers staying on Railay who want to go straight to another island without first taking a longtail boat to Ao Nang. It is also where visitors arriving from Phuket or Phi Phi land on the peninsula. Most passengers travel on foot with their own luggage. In the high season, speedboats are often fully booked several days before departure, so booking ahead is advisable.

Railay East Pier Facilities

Railay Pier is a simple landing with very limited facilities. The pier itself has no seating. An information centre with toilets is a short way off, at the entrance to the walking street. There is no luggage storage at the pier.

The walking street and the peninsula's beaches have restaurants, cafes and shops.

Getting to Railay Pier

By boat from Ao Nang: longtail boats run between Ao Nang Beach and Railay throughout the day. Boats generally operate from about 08:00 to 18:00, and availability after dark may be limited. A longtail usually departs only when it has 8 to 10 passengers, so allow extra time for the boat to fill.

By boat from other destinations: speedboats and ferries arrive from Koh Phi Phi, Phuket, Koh Lanta and the other islands listed in the timetable above. Passengers from these routes land at the pier and walk onward.

On Railay: there is no road connection to the mainland, so there are no cars on the peninsula and you walk from the pier to your resort. Railay West is on the other side of the peninsula from the pier. Ask your resort in advance whether staff can help with luggage.
