Phuket is Thailand's largest island, off the Andaman coast in the south of the country, and the main arrival point for international flights in the region. It is known for its west coast beaches, including Patong, Kata and Karon, as well as the old town of Phuket Town, island-hopping trips and a wide choice of resorts and restaurants. Phuket suits beach holidays, families, diving and snorkelling, and travellers using it as a base for the islands and mainland coast nearby.
The island is also the starting point for many boat journeys across the Andaman Sea. Ferries and speedboats connect Phuket with Koh Phi Phi, Krabi, Ao Nang and Railay, and tickets for these routes can be booked on Viaferry.
