The Phi Phi Islands are a small island group off the Andaman coast of Krabi province in southern Thailand, between Phuket and the Krabi mainland. The group is made up of Koh Phi Phi Don, the main inhabited island, and the smaller, uninhabited Koh Phi Phi Leh. The islands are known for their limestone cliffs, clear water and white sand beaches, and they suit beach holidays, snorkelling and diving trips, and island hopping on the Andaman coast.
Most visitors stay on Phi Phi Don. Tonsai Village, between two bays at the centre of the island, has the main pier, hotels, restaurants and dive shops, and has no cars. Long Beach is about 20 minutes on foot or a short longtail ride away, and resorts on the quieter north of the island, such as at Laem Tong Beach, can only be reached by boat. Phi Phi Leh is visited on day trips from Phi Phi, Phuket, Krabi and Ao Nang, with stops such as Maya Bay, Pileh Lagoon and Monkey Beach on many tours, along with snorkelling and diving. Much of the area is protected as part of Hat Noppharat Thara-Mu Ko Phi Phi National Park.
There is no airport and no road link to the islands, so every visitor arrives by boat. Ferries and speedboats connect Phi Phi with Phuket, Krabi, Ao Nang, Railay and Koh Lanta, and tickets for these routes can be booked on Viaferry.
